خوسيه دونوسو - ولد في سانتياغو. لم يكن تلميذاً ناجحاً مع أنه كان ينتمي إلى أسرة أطباء ومحامين ميسورة، ودرس في المدرسة الإنجليزية في سانتياغو، وكان من زملائه كارلوس فونتِس ولويس ألبرتو وهيرمانْز. لم ينهِ الثانوية وعاش تجارب متنوعة في شبابه.
